Prologue provides the full spectrum of creative services to the book publishing industry—from ghostwriting and developmental editing to copyediting and proofreading, from jacket design to internal templates and typesetting. Because of the talents, resources, and experience we bring to every project, Prologue can do it better, more efficiently, and more cost-effectively than the competition. Whether you work with us on a project-by-project basis, or hire us to provide ongoing services, no assignment is handled by one person alone. Our process provides collaboration and oversight, and thus has quality assurance built in. And our wide range of skill sets and knowledge in every phase of book publishing gives us a better appreciation of your needs.
For Book Publishers
Most book publishers now outsource much of their editorial and design work as a way of reducing expenses. The hidden cost of that trend has been a lack of consistent quality and accountability in the process and the finished product. Prologue establishes a new model for outsourcing editorial and design services by combining the advantages of freelancers with the benefits of an in-house editorial/design department. We provide a comprehensive menu of services for book publishers, while ensuring a higher level of quality, efficiency, and accountability than is possible from independent editors and designers, at a cost comparable to, or lower than, hiring freelancers.
For Authors & Agents
Prologue is passionate about working with authors—that’s why we started in this business and why we founded this company. Everyone has a story to tell, but few have the courage to put it down on paper and send it out into the world. Prologue works with established authors who desire enhanced editorial attention and feedback, as well as yet-to-be-published authors who require editorial guidance, intensive development, assistance in writing, and/or help in putting together a solid proposal for an agent or publisher. Our process is unique. Because of our backgrounds in publishing—we’ve spent years on the other side—we know how to write, develop, and edit both fiction and nonfiction, and know and enjoy the processes involved in publishing and marketing both.
Prologue works with literary agents to create saleable nonfiction and fiction. We provide ghostwriting services for authors who are content experts. And for agents who need additional resources in developing their authors’ works, we provide extensive editorial assistance.
